CoBoy Design

CoBoy Design is a French company that started to produce add-on scenery for FS2004 early this year. They focused on the French northern Normandy coast to start with and produced several titles so far: Deauville, Etretat, Dieppe and Baie-de-Somme - all on the Normandy coast - and Vallee de Seine, covering a large area to the west of Paris all the way to Rouen. is his first commercial software.

CoBoy Design and FSAddon Publishing agreed to join forces and plan for some exciting new projects together in future. One project that we put upon the drawing board is Normandy 1944 for FS2004...... ;-)

That's all it is for now...... a plan.
But with a few very enthusiastic partners, looking at portraying one of the most famous areas in the world's recent history! Stay tuned for more!

CoBoy Design's various products

Below are some pictures I took when flying from Dieppe, on the French coast of Normany, not too far from the Belgian border, northwards towards one of the big nuclear plants you can find all along the west coast, and then back south towards Le Havre. Before getting to Le Havre I turned back, just after passing Etretat and its famous chalk cliffs.

One major novelty that CoBoy Design introduced is a method to 'fit' special landscape features into the MS terrain. In this case the chalk cliffs along the Normandy coast give the scenery a very realistic aspect, compared to the really bland default scenery.

Also in all of CoBoy's sceneries are special textures and custom landclass, and photographic textures in dpecific places (such as the small airfields depicted).
All the roads an drailways are there, so are the rivers and streams!

CoBoy Design's philosophy of how to make landscapes really fits like a glove with that f some of our other authors and their prodcuts. It is designed to convey a sense of realism, without just 'pasting photos' on a flat terrain surface. Rather they combine various techniques to make the various landmarks, airfields and ladscape features blend as in real life... often resulting in 'not-so-sharp' features..... but very real !
