A new group of designers joined the FSAddon brand in March 2005. Their name is RusAviaGold, members are Igor Goncharov, Aleksandr Belov and Mike Svetloff. Their first product for us is an old pre-ww2 bi-plane from the Polikarpov factories. The sort of aircraft you would expect to see flying over some of our sceneries. Leisurely. REAL flying. The aircraft has been released on May 19, 2005 and can be purchased here from simMarket. |

| The Polikarpov-2 is an old, linen covered Russian
bi-plane that first flew in 1928. In the 'west' we sometimes call it the
Russian Jenny, referring to its resemblance (at least in role, but also in
looks) to the Curtiss Jenny that was used as a trainer in the US.
The Polikarpov-2 for FS2004 is built by a relatively new team of genuine Russian flight simmers, Igor Goncharov, Aleksandr Belov and Mike Svetloff, and a welcome change from all the new fangled, FMC and GPS toting flying equipment that we see advertised almost daily on the major webshops and FS sites (just kidding, we all LOVE these push button things of course). Compare the Polikarpov to an ultralight, although it wasn't that light with 665 kilograms empty weight. It is as simple as an ultralight, no, even simpler.. there is no GPS ! You'll just have to look outside and compare the landscape below with the map on your knees. Don't forget your goggles either... the engine does loose some oil at times and if the oil doesn't get you, the bugs will! The model comes in 9 different liveries, ranging from the civillian, white Aeroflot version, to the various military versions. And not only Russian paint schemes are included, other air forces and armies are present too, like the North Korean U-2LNB, a Polish night bomber, a Czech version, a Finnish one and even a French version, belonging to the Jean Salise collection. All versions have a front and aft cockpit, simple, of course, but fully customized, as well as Virtual Cockpits. And you can open the luggage spaces in the front and rear compartments. Great for transporting the supporting gear when visiting air shows ! Because THAT is what this beautiful lttle aircraft is made for... visiting air shows and enjoying the scenery below...... if you like uncomfortable aircraft of course. We are pretty sure that you'll have some great leisure flying with these little aircraft, and even if you don't fly, you can show them off at any virtual air show around the internet ! |
