NEW
The SOUNDS are back
Mike 'Doc' Apsey has been working on learning IntelliScene for Wenatchee-Skykomish and came up with a wonderful set of sounds for Orcas Island too. These are FREE for you to download and install, courtesy of Maurizio Gavioli of VistaMare Software and FSAddon Publishing for providing the software and license. And a big Thank You to Mike for his excellent work!
Take note: Users of FSE must turn their sounds for Orcas OFF, and ActiveCamera also causes problems at the time of writing this. Please read the instructions in the installer window!

This file went missing on putting the production package together. It will provide you with a few aircraft flying from Diamond Point over to Orcas, doing touch and goes before landing. Made by Peter McLeland. Since there was also a problem with the earlier released GeoRender Diamond Point (by LAGO), when adding AI traffic, you should read this first !

All instructions are also contained in the 'Where to place these files' document contained in the .zip file.

One other file that went amiss, also by Peter McLeland. Just unzip it into your FS9\Flights\FSAddon folder (or unzip it in a temp folder and move it manually to where it belongs).
VASI Fix Some of you will have noticed that the VASI lights at Orcas are not entirely functional (tongue in cheek). There was no way they could be made fully functional and AT THE SAME TIME provide you with Richards wonderful textured new runway ! So Richard, being the artist that he is, chose for the ‘looks’ of course !

However, if you want the functionality of the VASI lights, then here is a fix. But BE AWARE.. it will make the runway edges look bad !!! Unfortunately there is technically NO WAY at the moment that you can have both!

Download: from www.fsaddon.com, go to the Download Page.
Installation: Unzip in a temporary folder. Make a BACKUP (or keep the original files included in a safe place) of these 3 bgl files : Orcas11.bgl, Orcas12.bgl and Orcas16.bgl. You will find them in the C:\.....\......\FS9\FSAddon\OrcasIsland\Scenery folder . After you have made the backup, or stored the included original files instead, move the NEW bgl’s to the folder mentioned before, replacing the original ones. That’s it. 2004-5-4.

  User additions

Below you will find 'other downloads'. These are NOT FSAddon products but rather files from people who make nice things for all of us and 'fit' into the FSAddon.com philosophy of what we like and how we like it. All these files are posted here with the explicit agreement from their creators and owners, and we want to stress that you need to honor the copyrights and other wishes of the authors (usually mentioned in the accompanying 'readme' files) !

Please NOTE that although we LOVE what they are making, we CAN NOT support the free files submitted by users, and installing them is at your own risk !

Orcas Mist - Video by Doc Apsey This is a beautiful video made of still pictures on a misty Sunday morning at Orcas Island. No planes flying, no people around except for the lonely fisherman. Accompanied by the wonderful music from Enya this will really get you in the mood for more of Georender's scenery! Prepare your aircraft, and be ready to go sightseeing as soon as the fog lifts. 2004-5-09.
Daum's Orcas Letter Video The second of Daum's video's depicting Orcas Island. This one is even better than his first and not only gives you a wonderful overview of Richard's Orcas Island creation, it also is a very touching and moody video in it's own right. Again, well worth the download !!
Doc's Forums Mike 'Doc' Apsey has started a 'forum' where he keeps us up-to-date of his virtual life at Orcas. It is also the place where you can indulge in that same fantasy world and get in touch with REAL people who have similar sympathies for all things natural. My personal favorites? Doc's Radio Essays, Doc's Pub and the Taildragger Forum ! 2004-5-4.
Daum's Corsair at Orcas video Daum surprised us recently with a beautiful orchestrated video featuring Orcas and a Corsair warbird. This is a 20 mb download, to be unzipped in a temprary folder and viewed with your Windows Media Player, but well worth every second !! 2004-5-4.
Orcas Island does not have sounds...... we figured the movement would keep you sufficiently mesmerized. However, when you have LAGO's FSE (Flight Simulator Enhancer), then you can install Lauren Robinson's sound files. Just unzip them and install like any other FSE file.
Doc's Orcas Sounds Mike 'Doc' Apsey has also made a full set of sounds for Orcas Island, using LAGO's FSE, but with many of his own sound recordings. Mike has kindly agreed for us to include them here for you to download and now you can alternate them with Lauren's creations.
Orcas Windsock & Fuel Peter McLeland, the man who also brought us traffic at Orcas and Diamond point, has now used his talents to add a moving windsock to Orcas Island Airfield AND an automatic refueling point. Just draw up at the fuel pump, guarded by Fred, and your tanks will be topped up by the friendly old-timer.
Joe Watson's Flatten Joe Watson has made a replacement of the KORS_16n.bgl. This will address the issue of sinking buildings when using the FSGenesis free Westcoast mesh files for the region. Of course Orcas Island was not built with add-on mesh in mind and so any added mesh will cause strange results here and there. Joe's flatten switch will change a part of the original. Make sure to backup your original .bgl file first ! The put the new .bgl in your \Orcas Island\scenery folder. 2004-05-09.
