Frequently Asked Questions about VFR Guide Greek Islands

Question: I installed the package. How do I start?

Answer: Be sure to have Adobe Acrobat Reader. If you don’t have it, download it here:

http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html and install it. It's free.

·                     Click Start on the taskbar, click Programs, click FSAddon, click VFR Guide Greek Islands, click Manual.PDF. Acrobat Reader starts and displays the manual, which is your guide to fly this tour.

·                     Print the Manual.pdf or display it on a second display if you have one.

·                     Please read the Preface and Introduction sections in this manual. They are important to get the most out of this tour.

·                     Start FS2004.

·                     Click Select a flight, click VFR Guide Greek Islands in the 1. Choose a category-box, and click Stage 1: Triodhon – Kythira in the 2. Choose a flight-box. Click Fly now. The location, aircraft and weather-conditions are preset and you can leave right away. Be sure to have the manual at chapter Stage 1: Triodhon-Kythira on hand when you leave and follow the instructions.

Question: Do I have to fly in these preset weather-conditions?

Answer: No, you don’t. When you want to fly in different weather-conditions please adjust the weather the way you like it.

Question: Do I have to use the default Cessna 172SP Skyhawk?

Answer: Again, no you don’t. If you like to fly another aircraft please choose that one. Be sure however that all presets suite the aircraft you choose to fly with or change them accordingly. And realize that the airfields you will be visiting and the legs you will be flying are not suited for a Boeing 737 for example :-).

Question: Do I have to stick to the preset times and seasons?

Answer: No you don’t also. You can change the date, time and/or season you would like to fly. To enjoy the scenery the most each stage can be flown on different times if you like. The benefit of this is that the shades in the scenery are optimal, especially early in the morning or late in the afternoon during sunrise and sunset. The scenery is at its best then.

Question: What does the installer do?

Answer: The installer creates the following folder-structure below the main FS2004 folder: FSAddon\VFRGuideSeries\VFRGuide Greek Islands (the FSAddon folder may already exist on your system if you have purchased FSAddon products before). In this folder it places the Manual.pdf file.

It then places a number of bgl-files with suffix "_VFRGS02.bgl" in the FS2004-folder Addon Scenery\Scenery. These are bgl-files with extra parkingspaces and taxiways on the various airfields you will visit to be able to accomodate the AI aircraft that fly around the area.

The installer creates the folder VFRGuide Greek Islands in the FS2004 Flights-folder and places the files containing  the per-stage starting situations, weather conditions, flight breefings and small maps in there, more than 50 files.

Finally a file called Traffic_VFRGS02.bgl is placed in the FS2004-folder Scenery\World\Scenery. This file contains the movements of the AI aircraft you see taking off, landing, taxiing and flying around during your tour.

If you own the Lago FS Enhancer package you could have chosen to install the FSE-files during installation. These scenery enhancer files are placed in the correct Lago folder-structure and you will have extra FSE-scenery at a number of airfields you visit.
